It's not uncommon for lots of users to use weak passwords considering that they are less difficult to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins that aren't updated for a long time. In either of these situations, it won't be very difficult for a hacker to take over the site and immediately after that to take control of other websites that are hosted in the same account. To prevent this scenario, we've added an innovative security option known as JailHost. It restricts the access which a script has exclusively to its own folder, so in the event that one of your sites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to view any other content in your account, thus the damage will be small. Needless to say, using JailHost can't substitute the safety measures you should take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, yet it will allow you to restrict any damage to one site only.
JailHost in Cloud Hosting
We have included JailHost for all cloud hosting solutions, so you could protect your websites with only a few clicks within your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is not active by default in order to avoid interfering with any websites where you may need visitors or administrators to access content from other folders in your account, but activating it for all the other sites is really quick. Unlike various other Control Panels where many domains have their files in the very same main folder, all domains and subdomains in Hepsia have their own folders, making the control and the protection of multiple sites easier. In the unfortunate scenario of an Internet site getting hacked, the rest of your Internet sites will be shielded and we always have multiple daily backups for the affected one, so we'll be able to bring it back to its initial state in a couple of minutes.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
JailHost comes with all of our semi-dedicated server packages and you'll be able to activate it with a few clicks. It is not turned on by default because we don't want to prevent some scripts which need to gain access to multiple folders in your account from functioning properly. You could enable JailHost for all other sites that you have from the Hepsia Control Panel and you can do this easily even if you have no previous experience. What enables us to offer JailHost is the way Hepsia handles multiple domains - they all have individual folders that can be "locked". In comparison, other widespread Control Panels have add-on domains and the content of the latter is stored in the primary domain folder, so in case a single site is hacked, the whole account is hacked, which isn't the case with Hepsia. In case an Internet site gets damaged despite your efforts, we shall be able to recover it the way it was in no time as we will have a few daily backup copies of the entire account.
