SSH Telnet
Want to know what Telnet is and what it can be employed for?
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol employed to transfer encoded info between a client and a website hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any info. Many tech-savvy users prefer SSH because of the improved level of security. The connection is created and the commands are delivered through a command line. The accessible options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files can be transferred or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives may be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your choices are much more - the web server and the database server may be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software may be installed and a lot more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, since full root access is needed and all the other clients on that server will be affected. While SSH is used mainly with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs as well - Windows, Mac OS, etc.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If you have a
cloud hosting account with us and you'd like to handle your content remotely using SSH, you could obtain SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal doesn't provide this feature by default, you may add it with a couple of clicks from the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the CP, you will see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You may also choose what password you would want to use, given that it doesn't have to be the same as the one for your account. We have prepared a number of Help articles in which you can easily find all the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting plan, plus examples of how they're used. Also, if SSH access is permitted for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection through a standard client like FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to receive SSH access to it with simply a click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts. If your package does not support this function by default, you will be able to include it with ease using the Upgrades menu. When you go to the SSH section, you shall find the details which you need to connect to the server through a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter can be updated at any time, if needed. These login credentials are also required if you would like to upload files through a secure connection and you would like to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we provide. A detailed list of the commands which you can execute shall give you a better idea of what tasks you may perform inside your account and each one is accompanied by a number of instances of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our
VPS server plans feature SSH access by default, so you will not have to include any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login information, you will be able to connect using its primary IP address and the login credentials which you've chosen throughout the signup procedure. Because the VPS accounts come with full root-level access, there are no restrictions regarding the commands that you may run. Your server shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage just about everything using a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. This way, you are able to work with your files, databases and any apps you install in a fast and safe way.
